The Bamba are made up of a group of approximately 450,000 Kwamba speakers living in over 72 villages in Bundibugyo and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). They freely interact with the neighbouring language groups of the Bwisi, Konjo, Butoku, Tuku and Batwa each of which is less in number compared to Amba. They live and move throughout the District of Bundibugyo, to the East in Kabarole District, and to the North and West in the Democratic Republic of Congo. They travel for trade and to access better schooling options for their children in the neighbouring districts of Kabarole and Kasese.
