Malila team.
(Mbeya Iringa Cluster - Tanzania)
Before
the Malila language committee met to discuss spelling issues, a Tanzanian man
told the committee their job was like smashing snake eggs. (This certainly
got everyone's attention!) His point was that if you don't want to have any
snakes around, the easiest time to kill them is when they are eggs, when they're
stationary. It is a lot harder to kill them once they begin slithering around.
In the same way, a responsibility of the language committee is to try to address
problematic writing issues in the early stages before they get out of control
and are unmanageable.
