These women were thrilled to read their own language. (Sandawe, Tanzania)
Pray
- That a local literacy teacher would be found and trained.
- That logistics and resources will fall into place as the team looks at producing cassette tapes with Scripture portions and Read-along stories. (More translated text is needed before tapes can be produced.) When this does happen, pray that the Sandawe will get excited about using them.
- For dedicated and educated Sandawe who can help the translators in the task. Someone who is really motivated and takes ownership of this important work is needed.
- For Frank, who is learning a lot new things (orthography of Sandawe, more computer skills and helping some in translation). Give thanks that work on the dictionary has continued and for Frank who types all those words into the computer.
- For the Sandawe that work on collecting words for the dictionary, that they’ll finish strong.
- That the Lord will bless the use of Bible stories as a teaching tool in the churches and small groups.
- For Daniel and Odilo to have unity, wisdom and divine guidance as they work on translation. Pray for the translation process to continue and progress unhindered.
- That the Sandawe area gets sufficient rain. The rainy season has started very late this year. Pray that the rains continue and provide a good harvest. Some people have absolutely no food left and not even seeds to plant. Pray that Daniel and Elizabeth can help (but not be completely overwhelmed by the requests) and show God's love.
- That the new Sandawe songs will be an effective tool to carry God’s message to the hearts of the listeners.
- That the Sandawe people will thirst for and come to know the truth and that the truth will set them free.
-
That the Sandawe calendar will be sold and enjoyed because, and not in spite of, its Christian theme.
