Temi lady. (Tanzania)380 million people speaking more than 4,000 languages still need God's Word. If translation continues at its current rate, it could take another 150 years to even begin a translation project in these remaining languages.
But these people have waited long enough. God is not willing that any should perish...." (2 Peter 3:9). That's why Wycliffe Bible Translators International has issued a "call to action" we've named Vision 2025. It's a vision for the whole Church—for you—to accelerate the pace of Bible translation.
What happens when people don’t have the Bible in their language:
-
Church planters can't effectively share the Gospel and disciple new Christians without God's Word.
-
Christian radio can't beam Scripture into remote areas unless it has been translated.
-
Evangelism, training, worship—all ministries are hampered unless people have a Bible they can really understand.
Join in the worldwide Bible translation movement. Make this vision a reality.
What is Vision 2025?
By 2025, together with partners worldwide, we envision Bible translation in progress for every language that needs it.
At the current rate of Scripture translation, it could take another 150 years to provide all the Bibleless people groups with God's Word. It's time to change the pace. They've waited long enough!
Vision 2025 is a bold call to action and commitment; a firm "no" to the status quo; it's thinking "outside the box" and a willingness to take risks.
There are several key aspects to Vision 2025:
- Partnerships: Working in unity with other organizations to jointly do the job.
- Training: Equipping Wycliffe's staff with the skills to equip others.
- Urgency: Getting the task done more quickly than the status quo will permit.
- Vision-sharing: Motivating God's Church everywhere -- at home and in field countries -- to further Bible translation.
- Sustainability: Establishing translation projects that continue beyond Wycliffe's involvement.
"Vision 2025 . . . is an attitude that says, 'We are ready to be servants in His hands to serve the nations of the world with His Word. We are ready to change in whatever way He wants us to change. . . . " Statement by Dr. John Watters, executive director, Wycliffe Bible Translators International.
